The mournful sway of "Tears in Heaven" and "Wonderful Tonight" fare particularly well, especially considering how played-out the original versions have become. Other standouts include "Sunshine of Your Love," which loses bluesy psychedelia but retains the song's visceral melodic shifts, and an energetic version of "Motherless Children" that returns to the song's prewar blues roots.
