[Edit]U2's Joshua Tree is interpreted instrumentally for violin, viola, and cello on this enjoyable Vitamin release. From the stirring build-up to "Where the Streets Have No Name," through "Bullet the Blue Sky"'s righteous chording, and all the way through the rich chorus strains of "In God's Country," String Quartet Tribute to U2's Joshua Tree is a refined, unique take. It can't delve into Joshua Tree's lyrical themes, and the Edge's evocative guitar work is missed. But hints of the album's blues and country influences are still here, particularly on "Trip Through Your Wires," and in "With or Without You"'s case the stringed instruments actually heighten emotional sway of the melody. These string tributes will always be a little curious. But this set still offers U2 fanatics some interesting new viewpoints on a classic album.
