[Edit]Theo Parrish teams up with Detroit producer Marsellus Pittman to bring listeners Essential Selections, Vol. 1, Sound Signature's seventh release. This release combines the styles of two premiere Detroit deep house producers. This style shines through on the EP's first track, "Night of the Sagitarius," a faster-paced track that is a few shades brighter than Parrish's prior releases. However, the lightness of the track in no way affects its quality, and it's a sure-fire way to get the late-night crowd going again. The next track, "Selector's Theme," is a bit more driving than the first. With a solid 4/4 beat and a funky bassline, this track picks up where the first left off and takes you a level higher, contrasting the dark beat and bassline with a dreamy synth pattern. The record's final track, "African Roots," sounds exactly as the title suggests: a fusion of African drums and modern music pattern, which closes the EP with a deep and insightful mood.
