Details
[Edit]Jailbreak represents the further focusing and tightening to the Thin Lizzy machine. Just as 1975’s Fighting represented a leap forward in the band’s sound, Jailbreak is the solidification of the band’s songwriting. This is where the wounded poet and hard rock provocateur of the Phil Lynott legend takes on a momentum of its own. The twin-guitars of “Angel from the Coast,” with its tricky rhythm fingers, and Lynott’s smooth soul delivery, create a standout that accompanied with the power of “Running Back” and the eternal hit “The Boys Are Back In Town,” established Thin Lizzy as one of the ‘70s most literate and visceral bands. They’re the Steely Dan of the hard-rock set, filled with sly hooks and virtuoso performances, jazzy where other bands went heavy. “Romeo and the Lonely Girl,” “Cowboy Song” and “Emerald” take what was everyday living and turn it into legend. This Deluxe Edition includes modern remixes of tracks that refine, not alter, the originals. The live BBC recordings are an essential snapshot from 1976. “Derby Blues,” an early version of “Cowboy Song,” is dirtier than the official release.
