Details
[Edit]Tim Mungenast is a Boston-based guitarist and songwriter with a delightfully eccentric style; or maybe one should say styles, because his debut album covers so much musical territory. From reasonably straightforward guitar rock ("Confidence Man") to brain-melting guitar instrumentals ("Birth of Monsters") to sitar-fueled psychedelia ("Mahatma Wheel"); the only constants are excellent playing all the way around and Mungenast's somewhat bizarre sense of humor. The tunes themselves are very melodic, Mungenast's lyrics are decidedly strange and funny, and when it comes to the guitar playing, both Mungenast and Mac Randall really impress with both their technique and tone. If great guitar playing, skewed pop and a healthy dose of humor sound like a winning combination, Birth of Monsters is a good bet.
