Tim Reid's Any Given Day is a really strong adult guitar pop record. You could file it in the same drawer as early Josh Rouse, Michael Penn, or Freedy Johnston. You could compare it to the quieter moments of Teenage Fanclub or Elliott Smith. You could even skip the comparisons and give the record a shot on its own merits. You might like it. Reid recorded the album mostly in his house and it has an intimate feel that only records free from the pressures of a big-time studio seem to have. No big arrangements, no dramatics, no big moments on Any Given Day. Just peaceful, subtle, and suitably introspective pop from Reid's heart. Just songs like "Two Left Feet," "Love with You," and "Home Movies" that wrap you in a tender blanket of '70s-style harmonies and laid-back soft rock splendor. The only drawback is that there are so many other people walking the same path, there isn't much to make this a standout record in the way that, say, Josh Rouse's 1972 or Elliott Smith's XO are. Still, if you stumble across Any Given Day and you are in the mood for something new and completely obscure, by all means investigate.
