Details
[Edit]Singer/songwriter Tom Heyman first emerged in the late ‘80s as a member of the Philadelphia band Go to Blazes, which released five albums and toured the U.S. and Europe consistently before calling it a day in 1997. Relocating to San Francisco the next year, Heyman worked as a sideman for folks such as Chuck Prophet, Mark Eitzel, John Doe, and John Murry while joining local favorites The Court and Spark. He released the critically acclaimed solo album Deliver Me back in 2005, and in 2014 Heyman worked up That Cool Blue Feeling in Portland, Ore., with Mike Coykendall (M. Ward) producing and Rusty Miller, a sideman with Kelley Stoltz and Jason Lytle. The raw sounds of a working unit come together on lyrically intense songs such as “Time and Money,” “Keep the River on the Right," and the sadly always-topical “Chickenhawks and Jesus Freaks.” Heyman’s plainspoken vocals lend an authenticity to his hard-won truths.
