[Edit]Although Tommy Z is best known as a blues singer/guitarist, this effort is more in the pop crossover field. Z has a fine voice and takes a few solid solos, being in the spotlight throughout. His sincere originals cross over several musical boundaries, often falling into pop, light R&B, funk, and Christian music rather than blues. Although a pleasing effort, Universal Love is not particularly memorable or as passionate as one would think with that title. Tommy Z is a versatile performer and listeners who enjoy bluesy pop singing will find Universal Love of interest. However, blues fans may want to pass this by.
