Details
[Edit]Tosca continues its pattern of mid-album cycle remix projects with 2002's Different Tastes of Honey. This project includes 13 remixes of "Honey" from 1999's Suzuki, bookended by a piano intro and outro. Richard Dorfmeister has recruited a talented corp of remixers, including Andy Spence, Azoia, Faze Action, Funky LowLives, Gernot Ebenlechner, Glyn Biggabush, Jürgen Driemal, Markus Kienzl, Massi, Michael Baumann, Oliver Kieser, Only Child, Shelter AV, and Thomas Velten. The result sounds like a brand new album, with each dub version sounding highly unique. Personal taste will most definitely dictate which tracks are favorites, depending on one's preference for specific electronica subgenres. The up-tempo, jazzy Koop-style Faze Action dub; the funky, robotic Biggabush dub; and the immaculate stoned groovy Supatone 1 dub are exceptional standout tracks. This is a concept record that flows so well it obscures the fact that each track is based on the same song. Highly recommended for downtempo enthusiasts. Warning: Do not operate heavy machinery while listening.
