Details
[Edit]On her second solo outing, ex-Superchick lead singer Tricia Brock serves up a set of pulsating dance tracks and reflective ballads while reaffirming her place in the front ranks of Christian pop/rock. The assertive edge that’s always been a part of her persona is definitely in evidence, harnessed in the service of positive lyrics aimed at young women (and humanity overall). Cowriting with husband/producer Nick Baumhardt, Tricia has a lot to say about false messages found in today’s culture. She rips into fashion conformity in the buoyant “Mirror Mirror” and shows her sarcastic side on the new wave–styled “Pity Party.” “It’s Good to Be a Girl” stands out as a shout-along anthem in the best Superchick mode. A compelling electronic boogie groove gives “Adding Up to a Miracle” unstoppable drive, while Radiate’s title track fights gloom with a crisply contemporary beat. Whether she’s praising the Savior (“Everything As Loss”) or bolstering a sister’s spirits (“Daughter of the King”), Tricia deftly combines the earthly and the exalted. Ballads like “Love Will Not Let Go” and “What I Know” give her room to fully emote, lending added depth.
