Details
[Edit]Native Texan Trini Lopez began his career as a rockabilly singer, and his rhythmic side-turn into pop-folk in the early '60s was more of a departure than many people realized. His easygoing and lightly rocking approach to folk pieces like "If I Had a Hammer" and "Lemon Tree" were winning and unpretentious, and Lopez's live shows at PJ's during this era are still talked about by his many fans. Working with producer Ron Dante, Lopez returns in spirit to those shows with this release, covering a variety of '60s and '70s hits that he played live back then but never got around to recording. It's a fun set and those who think of Lopez as a folk revival icon are going to be quite surprised to see how this guy rocks — and yes, Lopez tosses in new versions of "Lemon Tree" and "If I Had a Hammer" as bonus tracks.
