Any producer who remixes Trüby Trio naturally understands the challenge at hand. The Trüby threesome have themselves turned in a raft of the most righteous remixes of the post-millennium, so the expectations of any outside remixer grow as a consequence. Although the 12-track Retreated isn't completely successful, its highs reach the stratosphere and the vast majority of the inclusions are successful, if workmanlike. The highlights are front-loaded, with the openers, Whignomy Bros.' Euro-breezy "New Music" and Guillaume Boulard's "Make a Move," standing as candidates for vital remix of the year. Louie Vega and Señor Coconut weigh down the proceedings with their stereotypical, uninnovative styles, although Nickodemus' heavy remake of "Runnin'" and Tiefschwarz's '80s funk blast "Universal Love" provide a couple of flip-side standouts. A bonus disc, mixed by Rainer Trüby, features most of the music heard on the first disc, except for additional remixes by Freeform and Cuica.
