[Edit]Elako is the follow-up release to Yombo. Here Tshala Muana is honing her local style, the Mutuashi. It is a languid dance rhythm and, combined with her warm vocals, an additional musical treasure that the Congo has to offer besides soukous. By this time in her career, her music had set Africa on fire and had also penetrated the European market. However, her music has never lost its deep connection with the artist's native Kasai in the Congo. There doesn't seem to be much difference in emphasis between this album and its predecessor. The drum machines are still there and dominate at times. It is when Mutuashi comes to the fore that her music shines. It does here at times. Her material is more varied than the previous album, and her vocals are increasingly strong and clear.
