[Edit]Having apparently expended every ounce of their collective talent and energy on coming up with quite possibly the dumbest, most insular, and hardest to remember band name this side of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, Up Up Down Down Left Right Left B A Start follow up their low-key debut album with an EP that's strictly emo-by-numbers. Perris, CA is five songs' worth of odd time signatures, long instrumental intros, and jittery vocals singing obscure, artsy lyrics. There's nothing inherently bad about the EP, and one song, "Please Come to Me," actually manages a kind of epic, vaguely Radiohead-ish grandeur in just under 90 seconds, which is certainly some kind of achievement. The others, however, will sound instantly familiar to anyone who has heard more than three indie rock records recorded since 1997.
