Walking Wounded have turned into (they were always heading that way) a populist Mellencamp/Petty (with tinges of U2) sounding rock combo...Writing songs critical of U.S. intervention, the crippling of American working men and women, and victims of drugs and racism is laudable. It's just that head Wounded Jerry Giddens simply doesn't know when to stop. He values broad Bono-like metaphors that distill the obvious into a catchy couple of phrases and booms them out of his vox box as if reading from Scripture. With lyrics that dredge up cookie-cutter images of Americana (sowing seeds, promises of a land where a man can chase his dreams), the title track is framed around an insistent and completely intoxicating pop melody...Raging Winds isn't as much a bad effort as it is overly ambitious and earnest. This is humorless, didactic music... ~ John Dougan, Option 30_90, Rovi
