Details
[Edit]Drummer Wally Schnalle leads a quartet on this all-original post-bop session, joined by pianist Jeff Pittson, saxophonist Charles McNeal, and bassist Rob Fisher. Because Schnalle set such a high standard with his earlier Retlaw release, this outing is just a notch below it, as the overall writing is just not as strong as his previous CD. But there's still much to recommend, including the bittersweet ballad "It Could've Been," the insistent "You Got We Got," which shows off Schnalle's considerable drum chops, and the rapid-fire closer "Sweet Art."
