This album is Mastered for iTunes. This album is Mastered for iTunes. With his fourth studio album, Dusty Rainbow from the Dark, Jean-Christophe Le Saoût (a.k.a. Wax Tailor) spins aural gold from braiding trip-hop, baroque hip-hop, and downtempo into a brilliant concept album about the enchanted realm of childhood. What’s even more creative is that he crafted this album from salvaged instruments, random textures, and dusty notes pulled from old vinyl records. “Exordium” opens with the hiss of a needle dropping on a record to reveal children’s banter and fantastical carnival music set to a cinematic score and mellow beats. Over this, we hear the familiar voice of Don McCorkindale (Radio BBC's The Avengers) telling the story of a reclusive boy and his record collection (he provides narration throughout). French singer/songwriter Charlotte Savary plays the boy’s mother, first appearing on the alluring title track. By “Phonovisions,” it’s evident that Le Saoût has created an epic fable for the 21st century’s vinyl hounds and their children. This is the instrumental version of the album.
