Details
[Edit]Basically the remains of Florida pop-punks Defining Moment after part of the band split off to form the Mayday Parade, We Are Action debuts with the just-OK Rock N Roll Is a Contact Sport. Anyone familiar with the Tallahassee pop-punk scene spearheaded by Yellowcard and their ilk pretty much already knows what these ten songs sound like: a more emo version of Green Day, with a lot of high-register guitar riffing and a singer who sounds like he might be able to beat you up, but he'd, like, feel really bad about it afterwards, dude. A few songs aren't half bad, particularly the opener "Chicago Fire" and the impressively snarky rave-up "Your Girlfriend Gets Around," but the pervading sense of over-familiarity might limit We Are Action's core audience to the most hardcore fans of contemporary mall punk.
