On their debut CD, Suicide Sound System, Chicago's neo-no wavers We Ragazzi unleash twelve tracks of sexy, hip shaking, high-energy rock and roll. The opening cut, "Being Alive is Like Vandalizin'" sets the tone with its funky-hot guitar, manic vocal spurts, and the key element of We Ragazzi, the superb rhythm section. Alianna Kalaba provides flawless, tight drum beats, while Farfisa player Colleen Burke covers the low end, laying down chords so smooth, you can almost see the smoking cigarette dangling from her lips. Add this to Anthony Rolando's voice, a spastic Prince meets Jon Spencer meets Mick Jagger hybrid, and his dirty garage guitar tone, and you have a whisky-soaked, urban juke joint vibe that keeps your foot tapping whether you want it to or not.
