While Hank Williams Sr. dominated country music in the early ’50s and George Jones emerged in the middle to late ‘50s to take honky-tonk into the ‘60s, Webb Pierce—with his flashy Nudie suits and guitar-shaped swimming pool—racked up more than 40 top 10 country hits between 1952 and 1960. His definitive honky-tonk style brought pedal steel–driven country music to the masses.
