True to style, Wolfgang Gartner’s first full-length album, Weekend in America, is infused with equal parts hip-hop mainstream crossover appeal and traditional electro house breakdowns. Features from rappers Eve, Jim Jones, and Cam'Ron (“Get Em,” “Circus Freaks”) are an appeal to transition listeners from Generation X. Tracks with will.i.am ("Forever") and Omarion ("Still My Baby") are undeniably pop. Wolfgang's sweet spot, however, is progressive house. The vintage arcade sound effects on "Space Junk" have made it a mainstay track in DJ sets worldwide. Elements of electro house shine through in the glitchy “818,” which elicits visions of a grungy underground club in the city from which the song draws its name: Los Angeles. Rounding out the album, “Shrunken Heads” and “Illmerica” represent the typical Wolfgang Gartner progressive synth sound that has fans clamoring for more. This version of the album also features two bonus tracks.
