[Edit]Formerly known as Ejecta until a DJ using the name established precedence, Joel Ford and Leanne Macomber changed their name to Young Ejecta and soldier on with The Planet, a six-song mini-LP (seven, with a clean version of “Welcome to Love”) that demonstrates just how good the synth-pop duo are with melodies. “Into Your Heart” starts spare but builds in speed and intensity as Ford’s synth textures thicken and Macomber’s vocals turn from wispy to sophisticated. Though songs often appear simple and sparse, it’s a deceptive ploy. The austerity plan forces each member to work harder to command their territory—and they do, marvelously.
