Details
[Edit]Zizi Possi is a singer with a limpid voice who is committed to delivering good Brazilian music. On this album, she visits several Brazilian rhythms and some of the best Brazilian composers, along with some excellent ones from newer generations. It has to be said that, in terms of the superbly generous tradition of Brazilian female singers, she is lacking some of the richness of expression and the samba swing. But she is a competent performer, especially in lyrical tunes, and fits the bill.
The excellent, clean choice of instrumentation is original: piano and percussion only, wonderfully played. She performs tracks accompanied only by a pandeiro, in the best tradition of embolada.
This album represents the particular view of Brazilian music by a contemporary urban educated woman, which is an welcomed addition to the tradition generated by the people in the streets.
