Details
[Edit]In 2001, Philippine singer Zsa Zsa Padilla released In My Life: Zsa Zsa Live. The album was recorded in a live setting, though the venue is not named on the credits. As with most Philippine concert albums, most songs are remakes of Western hits, including versions of Jackie De Shannon's "What the World Needs Now," Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time," Olivia Newton John's "I Honestly Love You," and the Beatles' "In My Life." Of the 22 songs performed here, only three are Philippine-composed. There isn't much difference between these live versions and the originals, though "In My Life" is taken at a slower speed, and "What the World Needs Now Is Love" contains various tempo changes. Zsa Zsa Padilla is in good voice throughout, and soars on "Papa Can You Hear Me." There isn't much audience participation, and the album sometimes lacks excitement. Overall, however, the album is fairly solid, though it's sad that concerts by Philippine performers rely so much on Western hits.
