Billy T. James is a New Zealand comedian who was popular as an actor throughout the '80s. Born William James Taitoko in 1948 in Waikato, New Zealand, he is of Mori heritage. He developed his comedy act during the '70s and peaked in popularity during the '80s, when he acted in a variety of mediums, including television and film. He died of a heart attack suddenly on August 7, 1991. The Comic Genius of Billy T. James, a CD/DVD retrospective collection, was released in 2008 and proved highly popular.
