Biography
[Edit]Formed in Pittsburgh in 1994, Catchpenny is a driving yet melodic quartet that has favored a very introspective style of alternative rock. Catchpenny went through more than its share of personnel changes in the 1990s—at the end of the decade, singer Michael Seven (whose real name is Michael Sirianni) and bassist Michael Henry were the only remaining original members. When Catchpenny's Dajom was released independently on the Next label in 1999, its lineup included Seven, Henry, Brian Ferrell (who was the band's fourth guitarist and had joined in 1997) and drummer Jeff Gretz. It was also in 1999 that Catchpenny hired drummer Tim Hartman to replace Gretz and became a quintet with the addition of rhythm guitarist Jeff Inscho.
