Crushed Beaks

Equally inspired by post-punk, shoegaze, and a shared love of horror films, London trio Crushed Beaks features vocalist/guitarist Matthew Poile, drummer Alex Morris, and bassist Scott Bowley. Originally the duo of Poile and Morris, the pair used this compact lineup to craft a driving-yet-hazy sound on early singles like 2011's Close-Ups/Sun Dogs and 2012's Grim. Befitting their love of scary movies, the band was invited by composer Fabio Frizzi (who wrote the music for Lucio Fulci's City of the Living Dead and The Beyond) to record their full-length debut in his Rome studio. Bowley joined Crushed Beaks in time to work on the album; called Scatter, it arrived in February 2015.
