Biography
[Edit]Singer-songwriter Debra Davis hits upon contemporary folk-pop that is quite abrasive, and with that she has attracted a vast female audience thanks to the positive-toned, empowering internal spiritualism found in her music. Melissa Etheridge is a fan, calling Davis' music "really catchy, moving and respectable." Her widely-popular debut, Univited Guests, released independently in 1999, sold 7,000 copies and earned a number 22 spot on Gavin's Americana Chart. Her sophomore effort, Angels in the Attic, was released a year later. The title track scored heavy play on the WB television network syndicate Dawson's Creek and she and her band went on to open for Vonda Shepard, Peter Himmelman, Steve Earle, and Edwin McCain as well. And aside from singing, Debra Davis earned a journalism degree from Cal State Northridge with a focus in women's studies. She frequently writes the vocal column for Gig Magazine.
