Biography

[Edit]

Fitz of Depression is a group of hardcore/punkers from Olympia, WA. The trio, consisting of Mikey Dees, Craig Becker, and Justin Warren, bowed with a self-titled EP in 1989. Oddly enough, despite their fast, aggressive style the band has an affinity for new wave covers, having releasing guitar-drenched versions of Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny"; Elvis Costello's "Red Shoes," "Miracle Man," and "Welcome to the Working Week"; and even Joe Jackson's "I'm the Man" during their career. The group's self-titled debut LP emerged in 1993 on Meat Records. 1994 saw the group switching to K Records and replacing bassist Justin Warren with newcomer Brian Sparhawk for Let's Give It a Twist. Pigs Are People Too followed that same year while the Swing album emerged in 1996. In 1996, the group also contributed a not-so-silent version of "Silent Night" to the Hardcore Holiday compilation (on Essential Noise Records).
