Biography
[Edit]Famous for his surreal humor and Saturday night prime-time show TV Burp, Harry Hill joined Peter Kay, Matt Lucas, and Reeves & Mortimer on the list of modern comedians who've turned their hand to singing with his 2010 debut album Funny Times. Born in Woking, Surrey in 1964, Hill grew up in Hong Kong and Kent before studying neurosurgery at the University of London. After leaving his job as a doctor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary to concentrate on his standup career, he landed his own TV show on Channel 4 in 1997, The Harry Hill Show, which ran for three series. But it was in 2001 when he became a household name thanks to TV Burp, the ITV program he hosted which poked fun at the week's television through comedic clips and various sketches. In 2010, the BAFTA-winning comedian released his debut album, Funny Times. Influenced by the likes of Monty Python and Benny Hill's musical output, it featured the single "I Wanna Baby," and featured guest vocals from ABC's Martin Fry, Coronation Street's Bill Roache and Bruce Forsyth. Hill has also written several novels, has his own comic strip in The Dandy and provides the voice-over for home video show You've Been Framed. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
