Biography
[Edit]The new age trio Incendio captures a serene musical sound, alluding to an ambient kind of spiritualism and meditation. Incendio, who is composed of guitarist Liza Carbe, keyboardist/guitarist Jean-Pierre Durand, and guitarist/composer Jim Stubblefield, mix a definitive style of ethnic fusion music and traditional flamenco flavors. All individuals are extremely talented and distinguished in their fields. And before the inception of Incendio, each were involved in various projects.
Both Durand and Carbe add television credits to their names, having done music for Sister Sister, JAG, and Entertainment Tonight. On a separate note, however, Carbe has a degree in classical guitar from Cal State Northridge and has performed with the guitar impresarios such as Lindsay Buckingham, Santana's Leon Patillo, and folksinger Sara Hickman. Durand, on the other hand, is a native of Peru. He is a self-instructed musician, for his background primarily lies in R&B music. But his interests also stretch to drum'n'bass, techno, jazz, Celtic, and orchestrated material. Stubblefield is known for his impeccable musicianship in Middle Eastern works. He worked with famed Kuwaiti singer Waleed Hamad during the early '90s. He also released a series of solo albums prior to his musical crossover into jazz.
Making for an enjoyable twist of classic guitar, Incendio's debut release Misterioso delves into melodic rumba and Cuban-styled music. Certainly a spiraling collection of modern compositions tagged "nuevo flamenco," Misterioso was released in July 2000.
