Biography
[Edit]Country guitarist Joe Carr has issued several solo releases over the years, in addition to being a one-time member of the bluegrass outfit Country Gazette, guesting on other artist's records, and issuing numerous instructional guitar videos. An entirely self-taught musician, Carr began playing guitar at the age of 13 (inspired by Doc Watson), which led to such other instruments as mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and ukulele. Carr joined the Country Gazette in the late '70s, appearing on 1978's All This and Money Too and 1981's American & Clean, before leaving the group in 1984 to play with others and pursue a solo career, as well as joining the music faculty in the "commercial music program" at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. Carr has issued several solo releases over the years, including such titles as Let's Go Dancing Down in Texas and Line Dance Party Texas Style, has collaborated with ex-Country Gazette banjo player Alan Munde (on the album Windy Days and Dusty Skies, and the book Neon Lights: A History of Country Music in West Texas), and issued numerous instructional videos for the acclaimed Mel Bay company covering a wide variety of playing styles (everything from Western swing and bluegrass to hard rock).
