Biography

LoCash Cowboys are Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, who combine soul, rock, funk, pop, hip-hop, and gospel in a high-energy version of contemporary country. Lucas was born and raised outside Baltimore, Maryland, while Brust was born in Dermott, Arkansas but grew up in Kokomo, Indiana. The two met after both moved to Nashville to pursue musical careers and quickly discovered a shared vision of bringing the dance moves and energy of R&B and hip-hop into the realm of country. The duo’s passionate and fun stage performances soon earned them fans and industry attention. A self-released album, LoCash Cowboys, appeared in 2008, after which the duo signed with Stroudavarious Records. A debut single on the label, “Here Comes Summer,” came out in 2010, and helped by a striking video directed by Brian Lazzaro, the song acted as a calling card for the Cowboys. A second single, “Keep in Mind,” was released the same year, with a full-length album, This Is How We Do It, arriving in 2011.
