Lonesome Bob

Lonesome Bob is a New Jersey native who first started making a mark during the 1980s when he played drums in the Ben Vaughn Combo and contributed to three of the outfit's albums. Beginning in 1984, he spent a decade living in New York City until he relocated to Nashville. Two years after settling in Music City, Bloodshot Records included his "The Plans We Made" on its compilation Nashville: The Other Side of the Alley. Checkered Past Records issued Lonesome Bob's solo debut, the self-produced Things Fall Apart, in 1997. Since that time his music has garnered praise and attention from the music community. He appeared with Allison Moorer during her tour of the U.S., paired with her to sing a duet on her MCA Records album The Hardest Part, and together they were featured on Austin City Limits. Country Music Television featured the singer/songwriter on its first broadcast of its new program Western Beat With Billy Block, which also highlighted Charlie Robison and Trisha Yearwood. A year after its release, Lonesome Bob's first album was honored with a nomination from the Nashville Music Awards for Best Americana Album. In 2001, he debuted on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry when he and Moorer paired up to sing "I Ain't the One," which was originally sung by Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings. His second solo release was Things Change from Leaps Records in 2002. Artists who have recorded his songs include the Waco Brothers (an outfit that named its second album after the Lonesome Bob-penned track "Do You Think About Me"), Ernest Noyes Brookings, and the Mekons. He has performed with such artists as Johnny Paycheck, los Straitjackets, Amy Rigby, Syd Straw, Jon Langford, Tim Carroll, and Sally Timms, among others. He appeared at St. Louis' Twangfest and as the opening act in Austin, TX, for country singer Dwight Yoakam.
