Biography
[Edit]Raised in and based in Red Hook, New York, Lord Raja (Chester Raj Anand) was introduced to music production software by his older brother. Working with his computer, along with keyboards and drums, as well as a collection of Indian recordings, the bug bit him early. Just before he reached his twenties, he released Music for Primordial Recollection on the Asthmatic Kitty label. Credited to his Infinitirock alias, it consisted of brief tracks that could be loosely classified as left-field rap productions. While attending SUNY Purchase, he adopted a new alias, Raja, while working on a class project. By the end of 2011, he released the three-volume October Series as digital downloads on the Astro Nautico label. The six-track Rubies EP, credited to Lord Raja, was another download-only release and followed in 2013 on Ghostly International. By the time Ghostly issued the album A Constant Moth in late 2014, Lord Raja's sound had incorporated numerous strains of electronic music, from bass music to jungle. Brainfeeder and Warp affiliate Jeremiah Jae was featured on the set's "Van Go."
