Biography
[Edit]Born in Srinagar in India in 1928, Maharajapuram Santhanam was killed in a road accident in Coopattur in Tamil Nadu on June 24, 1992. He was initiated into Carnatic music by Melattur Shama Dixitar and later learned from his father, Maharajapuram Viswantha Iyer, a noted musician. As he followed in his father's footsteps, his sons Ramachandran and Srinivasan are carrying on the family's musical tradition. Maharajapuram Santhanam's work also is available on Auvidis, AVM, Oriental and T Series.
