Biography
[Edit]Assembled by Dominican composer/arranger Eddi González, 21-piece band Mamajuana includes four singers, three of them from Santiago de los Caballeros and one from San Francisco de Macorís. Mamajuana (name of an exotic and aphrodisiac beverage) combines Afro-Caribbean and contemporary rhythms with romantic lyrics. Their self-titled debut album, released by Sony International, featured the hit singles "Mamasota" and "Sin Un Beso Suyo." After two weeks in the U.S. market, Mamajuana sold 20,000 copies.
