Meat Wave

Chicago-based outfit Meat Wave were no strangers to their local thriving underground scene, already splitting their time between other bands such as Elephant Gun, Truman & His Trophy, and Pink Torpedo to name but a few. Formed by Chris Sutter (guitar, vocals), Joe Gac (bass), and Ryan Wizniak (drums) in the summer of 2011 after the demise of Truman & His Trophy, the trio decided to opt for a more aggressive, powerful sound than that of their previous bands. Spring 2012 the group entered the studio to record their self-titled debut album, while originally released via Bandcamp, a cassette version also appeared via Let's Pretend Records later that year. 2013 saw the trio play a huge amount of local and national shows while writing their second album, continuing into 2014 when their debut album was reissued on vinyl by Hawthorne Street Records. The rest of that year the band carried on with their non-stop touring commitments, with shows across the whole of America before heading to the U.K. at the beginning of 2015. Their EP, Brother, was released in January 2015 once again via Bandcamp and on vinyl through Brace Yourself Records.
