Biography
[Edit]Led by guitarist and vocalist Nelson Emokpae, Nelly's Echo has also featured percussionist Daniel Booker, keyboardist Tony Correlli, guitarist Marcin Otrebski, drummer Barry Sherard, and bassist Tyler Sherard. The adult alternative pop/rock band, inspired by soul music and contemporary singer/songwriters such as Jason Mraz, hails from Baltimore, Maryland, though Emokpae is a native of Lagos, Nigeria. The first releases from Nelly's Echo included the EP Live Love 'N Laugh (2007) and the album Secrets to a Happy Life (2009). In 2012, Emokpae (as Nelly's Echo) competed on NBC talent competition The Voice, during its third season; supported by judge Christina Aguilera, he made it to the top 64 but didn't advance. Emokpae continued touring and recording with his band. They self-released the album Journey in 2013.
