Sandra Kerr

Concertina and guitar player, vocalist, and storyteller Sandra Kerr is best known for her appearances on Bagpuss, the popular thirteenth episode children's show that first appeared on British television in 1974. As the ragdoll Madeline, Kerr told stories and sang witty songs accompanied by Gabriel, a banjo-playing toad. The show, which continues to be repeated by the BBC, made her a national star.

Kerr has continued to perform traditional British folksongs. In 1987, she recorded an album, We Were There, with the Oyster Band. Five years later, she recorded an album, Guess What They're Selling, with British singer/songwriter Leon Rosselson. In 1996, she collaborated with her daughter, Nancy, who plays violin, viola, cello, guitar, and mandolin, on an album, Neat and Complete.
