Skutch

Skutch formed in Sydney, Australia, contributing additional forms to this country's greater tradition in rock music, built upon acts such as hard rockers AC/DC or pop stars like Kylie Minogue. Inspired by such different crews as Yes or Jeff Buckley it was in 1991 that singer/songwriter Mark Howard joined Paul Oswald (guitar, vocals) to assemble Skutch. Acquiring an always rising love for music, the two-man team started to experiment several groundbreaking compositions founding upon a series of styles. It was only in 1998 that the Australians managed to deliver their first full-length album, Long Time Coming. Their particular tunes of modern mainstream rock with constant figures of alternative options gave them an always rising fan base, mainly in their home country. The creative and interpretation needs of the group eventually leaded to a considerable expansion of the lineup that along with Howard and Oswald consisted of Ben Prince (guitar), Ian Pritchett (bass), Craig McGregor (violin), and Matthew Gogarty (drums). Two years after their debut album, Spinning Around in Jupiter, their second full-length, arrived before Sun Sex Sand and Charlie Chan hit the record stores in 2001.
