Biography
[Edit]Based out of Southern California, Orange County pop confectioners the Colourist specialize in hook-filled, ebullient indie pop/rock in the vein of Matt & Kim, Foster the People, Phoenix, and Passion Pit. Formed around the talents of ex-Paper Thin Walls guitarist/vocalist Adam Castilla and drummer/vocalist Maya Tuttle, along with keyboard player Justin Wagner and bass player Kollin Johannsen, the quartet spent 2011 and early 2012 honing their live skills with the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and Grouplove before heading into the studio to lay down tracks for their debut EP, the Republic-issued Lido, which included their Hype Machine-fueled hit online single, "Little Games." The band's self-titled debut LP followed in early 2014.
