Biography

[Edit]

Maverick Canadian punk rockers the Subhumans (not to be confused with the British Subhumans) formed around the initial core of vocalist Brian Goble (aka Wimpy Roy), guitarist Mike Graham, drummer Ken Montgomery (aka Dimwit), and bass player Gerry Hannah (aka Gerry Useless) in the western city of Vancouver, playing their first show on July 1, 1978, the same year they released their first single, "Death to the Sickoids." Montgomery left the group the following year and was replaced by Jim Imagawa, who contributed to both the band's self-titled EP and its legendary Incorrect Thoughts LP. Their 1981 follow-up, No Wishes, No Prayers, saw the departure of Imagawa and Hannah, making room for new bassist Ron Allan and third drummer Randy Bowman. The new lineup was short-lived, however, as the band broke up the following year. The group re-formed in 1995 to promote the "best-of" collection Pissed Off...with Good Reason!, and again in 2006 for an all-new studio album, New Dark Age Parade. The latter album, released on Alternative Tentacles, saw original members Goble, Graham, and Hannah back together again, rounded out by drummer Jon Card (SNFU, D.O.A.). Reunited, the group found increasing demand for its first album in CD form, so Alternative Tentacles set out to re-release Incorrect Thoughts. However, in a strange twist of fate, the original members of the band found themselves unable to prove that they held the rights to the album. Not wanting to pursue the rights legally, the Subhumans recorded a second version of their debut, titled Same Thoughts Different Day, which was released in 2010.
