Biography
[Edit]Created in Brighton, U.K., in 1999 by founding member Pete, Things in Herds preferred from the very beginning to ramble in the alternative and indie rock style. Performing on the same conceptual ground as other selected acts, such as Pavement, Red House Painters, and singer/songwriter Nick Drake, Things in Herds slowly became one of the most important bands on the independent rock scene. After some time practicing with several recording appliances, leading composer Pete was joined by Miss Ping (vocals), Georgina (cello), and Stuart (synthesizer). Pardon?, the group's debut album, appeared on the market and on the Internet not long after, securing the British band even more acclaim. One year after forming, Things in Herds was chosen by director Ron Judkins to compose the soundtrack for the movie The Hi-Line, providing them even more notice. A few months later, I Can Dancing and Walking showed up as Things in Herds' second full-length. Performing continuously in a series of gigs throughout the U.K., the duo formed the G-Folk record label in 2001 and released yet another disc, the EP Always Disappear, once more achieving considerable praise. Joining the band in 2001, bassist Gordon secured Things in Herds an improved lineup for live performances.
