Biography

[Edit]

When members of his former band, F/I, expressed desire to go in a more song-oriented direction, Richard Franecki decided it was time to move on and formed the more loosely structured Vocokesh. Influenced by the industrial sounds of Throbbing Gristle and the space rock of Hawkwind and Pink Floyd, Franecki grabbed a couple F/I members and released the vinyl-only Ispepnaibara ("Arabian Pepsi" backwards) in 1991 on the experimental label RRR. In 1992 Franecki started a long-term relationship with the Drag City label by releasing the improvisational jam and tape collage-filled EP Still Standing in the Same Garden. In 1995 came the release of Smile! And Point at the Mountain?, with Paradise Revisited following in 1998. The Australian label Lexicon Devil issued Ispepnaibara for the first time on CD in 2001, while Franecki was working on the band's next album. In 2004 the long-delayed Tenth Corner finally saw the light of day on Strange Attractors Audio House.
