Biography
[Edit]Vancouver, B.C. weirdo pop band Walter TV was formed in 2010 by ragtag crew of Technicolor sound sculptors Pierce McGarry, Joe McMurray, and Simon Ankenman. The trio barely got off the ground before Ankenman left the project immediately following a 2011 recording session with Karl Blau. The remaining members took some time to regroup, relocating to Montreal, where they moved into a house with Captured Tracks solo artist Mac DeMarco and a host of other ravenously creative musicians. In a new locale and immersed in a new creative community, McGarry and McMurray worked as a duo to complete the first proper Walter TV full-length, 2012's Appetite. They also quickly joined on as touring musicians for DeMarco's live band, backing him up along with Homeshake mastermind Peter Sagar. A busy touring schedule with DeMarco slowed down the creative process somewhat for Walter TV, but the members still worked on the project when they could. In 2014 Captured Tracks subsidiary label Sinderlyn Records released a deluxe reissue of Appetite, which was initially only available as a cassette release.
