Yvette Freeman

Actress/singer Yvette Freeman was born and raised in Wilmington, DE, later relocating to New York City to pursue a career in graphic design. There she turned to acting, performing with the Theater for the Forgotten repertory company before touring in productions of The Wiz and Ain't Misbehavin'; while on the road Freeman also sang in nightclubs, and while in Paris mounted her own cabaret act. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, she landed a series of television guest shots; with TV scribe Oliver Goldstick, she began developing Dinah Was, a stage tribute to the legendary blues singer Dinah Washington which opened to much acclaim in 1998. In the meantime, Freeman also earned considerable exposure thanks to her recurring roles on the NBC series ER and Working; her debut album, A Tribute to Dinah Washington, followed in 1999.
