Product Description
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Jim Taylor has been performing original music since 1974. He has released seven solo projects, the latest being TELL ME A STORY (1999), two as part of the TAYLOR & STONE BAND, from Nashville, TN (1977-1989) and 1998's STEP ON IT by The FOREST HILL BAND. Jim's music has been called 'bluegrass-influenced new acoustic folk,' but who knows what that means? Who cares, for that matter Jim's a songwriter and performer - solo, with the Shady Oak Ramblers, Jim's new bluegrass/folk trio, and with The Forest Hill Band - a folk-rock group in the tradition of Fairport Convention, The Byrds, and other much-loved (by Jim and a few dozen other record buyers on the lunatic fringe) bands. The group includes Mac Smith on lead guitar & vocals, Georgia Pressman on flute & percussion, and Joel Pressman on bass. 'Regular Irregulars' with the group include Chris Rosser on keyboards and Pete Latrella on drums. In concert, FHB is likely to move quickly (and, in spite of all odds) from Jim's original bluegrass to a favorite Richard Thompson rave-up! Here's what DIRTY LINEN magazine has to say about Jim's songwriting: 'Postcards from points in time' is one way Jim Taylor describes his music, and it fits. Vivid images of a mother and daughter dancing in the moonlight under a summer sky, of traveling home in the dark, of life on the road, linger in the mind after the music has stopped.' Here's a quote from MUSIC REVIEWS QUARTERLY: 'Taylor writes perfectly melodic songs with verses that carry themselves with pop-tinged folk dignity..' INTERNET MUSIC REVIEW SERVICE says: 'Without a doubt, one of the best acoustic releases I've heard this year.'

- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2004This album is a fantastic example of American folk music. You can really tell that Jim put allot of himself into the music and the songs cover many moods and feelings, blue, upbeat, looking back, and wondering about the future. The album features some wonderful acoustic guitar, along with some nice flute, piano, and harmonica accompaniments. It's one of my favorites and I highly recommend it.
